Please keep in mind that I am not a traditional photographer.
The majority of the time, I do not ask people to pose, nor do I do I always ask people to smile, and I treat my business as an art. I will do some traditional portraits, but I will add my own personal approach to these portraits, either by the crop, or the processing of colors in the final image. I love doing artistic poses and hope you will play along!

What to wear

Clothing is very important in a photograph. I recommend wearing layers as much as possible to add interest and texture. I also recommend clothing with texture, such as chunky sweaters, clothing with ruffles, buttons, hats, headbands, ribbon, embroidery, anything that has a grit to it.

The clothing you pick can have a big impact on your finished photos. Choose colors that coordinate rather than clash. Honestly bright colors on work really well for your photo’s. Shoes..well they’re optional =)

Feel Free to bring a couple changes of clothing to the session, if your child is up for it we can change as many times as you like. Accessories are my favorite accent to a photograph. Hats, scarves, fun necklaces, funky boots, tights, etc. really can make a photograph more interesting.

Also, choosing clothing for a family session can be really stressful. Try picking a few colors and sticking to them for the entire family. Dark jeans are always a good choice and you can pair it with coordinating colors. Sometimes matching too much can look cheesy, so try to keep each person a little unique but staying within the color scheme.

Very Important!! Bring Chapstick! Chapped lips are really hard to photoshop…

What time is best?

The best time for your photography session is early morning or early evening. The light is perfect then and we take full advantage of it!  It’s casual and we’re there to have fun. So don’t stress. Relax!

Once you book your session we will talk by telephone and work out the best location. It could be your yard, a park, garden or any place that looks interesting.

Maternity
The ideal time for maternity portraits are between 32 – 36 weeks.  Wear something fun and funky and let me see your personality shine through! And remember, your comfort is my utmost priority.

Newborn
5-10 days after birth is the ideal time to do your newborn photos. After that, baby acne and cradle cap makes it quite the challenge. So schedule your session before you deliver… one less thing to worry about then!

After the Session
Approximately 2 weeks after your session, you will receive a link to your  private online gallery. This gallery will expire 7 days after being uploaded. It is highly recommended that you order during this time. Once your gallery expires, there will be a $25.00 fee to republish the  gallery for another 3 days.
